City of the Future

B.Arch

Fall 2020

This project explores urban design in a futuristic setting where global warming intensified flash flooding conditions and drought periods. The Burbank Airport was reimagined as a small neighborhood. It tackles water in sensory ways, each main zone appealing to one of the five senses.

Some of the practices include water filtration systems, rainwater re-purposing, and underground irrigation for crops and gardens. Water will also be integrated with the block in waterways and artificial lakes that are flexible enough to be converted into other spaces during drought periods. Ultimately, this project creates a city design that is influenced by and emerges from water.
